Looking back on my own journey, I’ve come to realise that the only thing keeping me from returning to my early morning radio roots has been embracing vulnerability and sharing my story.
Opening up about being sacked overnight and starting from scratch wasn't just about airing my grievances; it was about strategic storytelling.
A sole trader from the age of 19, I put myself though uni and then radio school emceeing gigs on the weekends. It soon led to my dream radio career, hosting breakfast in my home city. I was also newly married, and after more than a decade of taking the low-paid jobs in the bush for experience, I was finally making a decent income too. I’d never been happier. But when life threw me a curveball, instead of packing it all in, I took my chance.
I turned the switch and created this whole other bunch of revenue streams. I told people I was available to media train them. I told people I was available to give them media consultancy and support them.
Now, before you brush this off as self-promotion, let me clarify—it's not about inflating egos. It's about being of service to those who need us. The content we create is a lifeline to dream opportunities that could transform your business IF you're brave enough to step into the spotlight.
